Step #6: Benefit for Using Google Keyword Planner

There are only two main features of Google Keyword Planner above, namely Discover New Keywords and Get Forecast and Search Volume. It looks like it has very few features. However, you can maximize both of these features for your keyword research. Here’s how:

1. Take advantage of Keyword Filters

Google Keyword Planner does limit a maximum of 10 keywords in one research. However, you can find more keyword ideas by using filters. After entering keywords in the Discover New Keywords feature, you will get the results of keyword research. Then click add filter > keywords.

2. Steal Competitor Keyword

With Google Keyword Planner, you can also steal competitor keyword ideas. In the Discover New Keywords feature, you can enter a website URL for keyword research. Well, there you can also enter the URL of your competitor’s website.

For example, say you have a tech niche website. One of its biggest competitors is of course Jalan Tikus. You can find out keywords related to Jalan Tikus with Google Keyword Planner. Here are some keywords related to Jalan Tikus:

3. Find the Most Potential Keywords

Google Keyword Planner does provide a lot of keyword suggestions. That’s certainly a good thing. You have lots of keyword ideas to target. However, you can also be confused about which keywords to prioritize.

Of course you have to give priority to keywords that have better potential. How do you know which keywords have better potential? One of the most effective ways is to look at the cost of the Top of page bid (highest high range).

Top of page bid (high range) data shows how much advertisers spend on a keyword. The higher the cost, the higher the value. Because other people want to spend a lot of money for these keywords.

For example, on the keywords “website”, “blog”, and “domain”, these are the keywords with the highest scores:

4. Set Search Location

By default, Google Keyword Planner will do keyword planner research based on the country you registered for the first time. However, you can narrow the reach of keyword research to the city level though.

Of course this will benefit you who are targeting local customers. It’s easy, on the results of the Discover New Keywords keyword research, click the Locations menu.

For example, this time we focused on keyword research in DKI Jakarta Province. You can replace it with the city or province of your target audience.
